Why wouldn't I just go to an "X-mart" store and buy this bike for a lot less?
If you are just planning on riding your bike for a few miles, and mostly just letting it sit, the x-mart bike might be good. The majority of those bikes are not made to last. They are also usually a lot heavier. The other problem is that you will not find a bike that looks similar to the Osobike in one of those stores. At least I haven't seen one. They are all old fashioned cruisers, heavy road bikes with cheap components, or other bikes that are nothing like an osobike.
Why is the bike called Osobike?
Because the first three letters make the shape of a bike.
Why is your bike made out of steel instead of aluminum?
Steel is three times stronger than aluminum and only adds about two pounds to the total weight of the bike.
What is road bike and a cruiser bike?
A road bike is for use on mainly asphalt. It is used for going long distances at a fairly fast pace. Road bikes have usually several speeds/gears. A cruiser is not intended for going long distances or going fast. Cruisers are usually heavier and bulkier than road bikes. They are usually one-speed and low maintenance.
Aren't coaster brakes dangerous?
I have ridden several bikes with coaster brakes for the past thirty years and have never had a problem with any of them. In the US coaster brakes are sometimes considered brakes for kids bikes. If you go to China you will see a lot of adults riding bikes with coaster brakes. If you research on the internet you may find a few stories about coaster brakes heating up and seizing when going down long, steep downgrades. This bike is not intended for that, but if you are just going on occasional hills coaster brakes are great. Note that coaster brakes are serviceable.
How do I know what size to get?
The 52 cm bike is ideal if your inseam is about 31" and your height is about 5' 6".
Why not buy this bike from my local bike shop?
You will not find this bike in your LBS. You may find some similar fixed gear bikes, but on a fixed gear you can't coast and you cant brake unless you add caliper brakes. A fixed gear bike with this high qualilty frame and similar high quality components would cost a lot more. You could have them custom build you a similar bike, but my guess is you will be paying around $650 for a similar build. And you would also have to wait for them to get the parts in. The osobike is ready to ship and arrives anywhere in the U.S. in just a few days.
Can I get a front Brake?
Front brakes are available (Tektro brand), including lever, caliper and cable for $38. The lever mounts to the handlebar close to the stem. You do not need to re-wrap your handlebar tape to attach it. To see picture point
Can I add components like fenders, kickstand, different hubs etc? Can I change the stem length? Can I add a chaingaurd?
The Osobike comes boxed and mostly assembled from Taiwan. I will will not modifiy the boxes as they are already packed nicely. So you would need to make any alterations that you want, after you get the bike.
Can I get an other color?
This first order is all white.
